NZ GUILD of STORYTELLERS
THE STORY SHOULD BE:
- Authentic in background information
- Suitable for the intended audience
- Appropriate in the message and metaphor
- Of a suitable length to maintain audience interest and participation
- Interesting and vital
- Positively influential
- ‘tellable’
- Belonging to the teller.
PROPERTIES, ACCESSORIES, COSTUME SHOULD:
- Create an authentic atmosphere/value
- Be of a suitable size and clarity
- Create ambience and atmosphere/value
DELIVERY AND PRESENTATION.
The Storyteller should
- use effective and sustainable ways to portray character with voice, accent, posture?
- make effective use of PAUSE – PITCH – PACE?
- have a varied repertoire?
- have an interesting, flexible, mobile voice?
- use good vocal projection?
- use language/vocabulary suitable for audience?
- project self-confidence?
- use appropriate humour
- tell a story that is suited to self
- Use correct pronunciation, and good enunciation?
- Become involved in the story?
- Make eye contact with the audience
- Involve the audience
