THE STORY SHOULD BE:
  • Authentic in background information
  • Suitable for the intended audience
  • Appropriate in the message and metaphor
  • Of a suitable length to maintain audience interest and participation
  • Interesting and vital
  • Positively influential
  • ‘tellable’
  • Belonging to the teller.


PROPERTIES, ACCESSORIES, COSTUME SHOULD:
  • Create an authentic atmosphere/value
  • Be of a suitable size and clarity
  • Create ambience and atmosphere/value

DELIVERY AND PRESENTATION.

The Storyteller should
  • use effective and sustainable ways to portray character with voice, accent, posture?
  • make effective use of PAUSE – PITCH – PACE?
  • have a varied repertoire?
  • have an interesting, flexible, mobile voice?
  • use good vocal projection?
  • use language/vocabulary suitable for audience?
  • project self-confidence?
  • use appropriate humour
  • tell a story that is suited to self
  • Use correct pronunciation, and good enunciation?
  • Become involved in the story?
  • Make eye contact with the audience
  • Involve the audience
