Past-president NZ Guild of Storytellers.Canadian born Liz Weir tells stories to audiences of all ages but specialises in pre-school and elementary school-age children. Liz has been working as a storyteller for twelve years and as a full-time freelance teller for the past five years. She has a huge repertoire and tells a wide range of stories, always responsive to the audience. She works extensively in schools, libraries, pre-school centres, for the YMCA and for school holiday programmes. Liz regularly teaches courses on storytelling, on the use of simple puppets and props with storytelling and frequently gives seminars on ideas for promoting pre-literacy skills in children under two. Liz offers a wide range of professional development workshops for libraries on a variety of topics including: oral storytelling, preparing story time sessions, music and movement programmes for the library setting and baby-times programmes.She also provides a wide range of professional development workshops for libraries on many topics including: preparing story time sessions, music and movement programmes for the library setting and baby-times. She also gives practical advice on how to prepare exciting library programmes when working with a limited budget.Liz travels through-out New Zealand telling stories and giving workshops and seminars.
