| DON COULTER 56 Painstown Rd R D 8 Waimate 8791 Sth Canterbury Professional name Denim Don Email denimdon@eznet.co.nz Webpage Soon Phone 03 689 8416 The name originates from the dress sense, which in turn reflects my philosophy on life. No frills, feels good, it works. I approach my story telling with the same values. My aim is to entertain, amuse, arouse emotions, provoke thought and discussion. I like to consider my target audience as children between the ages of 4 - 94 and will tell to groups anywhere within this range, prefererably in an intimate atmosphere, to numbers up to thirty or so. Young ones will be delighted with stories of wacky machines, mixed up animals and more traditional, but tampered with, fairy tales. More mature listeners may recognise someone they know, or themselves, lurking within others. Although I have only recently, told in the public arena, such as schools and various groups, sometimes on behalf of Timaru story teller, I feel that I have served a sixty year apprenticeship, as any audience, whether it be fellow workers, extended family, or those simply within hearing distance, have been entertained with anecdotes on the oddities of life and the characters that dwell within. Some of my stories are borrowed and bent, but most are originals, and of these some are destined to become books. THE GINORMOUS MACHINE is the first to take this path. I have bypassed the publishing establishment, and self produced this rolling rhyme picture story with the help of a local illustrator. |
