Merry Marg - aka Margaret Dockrill e-mail: dockrill@xtra.co.nz Telephone +64 3 6862311 Based in Timaru, I come from a long line of Scottish
storytellers and feel especially close to my kinfolk in the far northern
islands of the Orkneys who over the centuries have gathered around the peat
fire on long winter’s nights to “spin a tale”.
It is the atmosphere and magic of story that captivates me. What
captures me is “Story’s” ability to transform the ordinary into the “extra”-ordinary
and give us a fresh look at our family, our history our joys and problems. As an experienced
storyteller of 7 years with 20 years Public Speaking experience, I have a portfolio that includes folk
stories, I
s a retired Librarian I am a regular teller at libraries, mainly telling to Pre-school and Primary children. Puppets, props and movement are featured in
these tellings. I
have been a featured
teller at Glistening Waters Storytelling Festival in Masterton.
Workshops on Storytelling have been presented to Toastmasters, ITC and
POWERtalk International clubs, as well as community groups. School
visits are an important part of my regular programme. Finally, I believe that humour is important
and, as is shown by my name, endeavour to use it as a leaven in every
presentation. To do this I have a collection of entertaining 5-15minute stories,
some with a twist in their tale. . Listen
for the magic, the joy & the laughter And
may you live happily …...ever after |
